The ideal candidate must have hands on approach and be willing to adapt and be comfortable with change in a high TEMPO environment.

Shield Aviation Inc. currently has openings for Senior UAS Mission Commander. Mission Commanders must become type rated on the ARES UAS and have/maintain a FAA private pilots license.

This position is currently CONUS based and does not require overseas deployments.

Duties may include:
Execute flight and mission planning prior to flight using all applicable publications, weather sources, and intelligence
Coordinate airspace integration with all controlling agencies and participating units
Facilitate mission briefs conducted in accordance with checklists and complete flight risk assessment
Initiate pre-flight checklist and coordinate taxi movement request clearances from appropriate agencies
Monitor flight path for safety of navigation and ensure appropriate checklists are completed, along with mission progress, flight parameters, and safety of navigation and make adjustments to the mission as required
Ensure appropriate clearance is received for the return portion of flight
Coordinate with controlling agencies and using appropriate emergency procedures when necessary.
Coordinate with government representatives
Operate in arduous environments


Knowledge - Skills & Abilities Required:
Active DoD SECRET (Min) Security Clearance
Current Private and UAS flight Logs required and should be included in resume.
+5 Years of experience on Group III UAS
10 years of military experience
Must have prior Mission Commander experience in manned aircraft and or unmanned aircraft in deployed environment.
Previous UAV Operator experience with minimum 300 hours verifiable UAS pilot time
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of proper English usage, grammar, vocabulary, spelling
Applicants should have a high degree of computer literacy to include; Microsoft office Suite
FAA pilot certification required.
